42. Brother
I’m the luckiest sister in the world to have Kai-Rey as my big brother.
The classic younger sibling, I’ve always looked up to Kai-Rey with such awe and admiration. And I still do. He’s the best.
He brings out my playful, silly side.
He knows exactly what I’m thinking at the exchange of a single glance.
He gets me to crack a smile even when I’m in the foulest of moods.
He holds space for me to talk about things like polar bears and past lives.
He tells me how he’s feeling.
He asks me about my week.
He makes me laugh until I cry and my belly aches.
He challenges me fervently and supports me endlessly.
He spends time with me.
He inspires me to learn, to dare, to create, to love.
He makes me feel so proud to be his sister.
What a blessing it is to have my brother be one of my best friends in this lifetime.
*We may look like twins, but he is indeed 3.5 years older (and, perhaps, wiser) than me.
